Caring for Your Well After a Flood

Homeowners in floodplains can take several measures to protect private drinking water wells against the impacts of flooding on the structure of the well and the quality of the well water. Assess your well to ensure adequate height of the wellhead, (it should be above base flood elevation), check that the sanitary seal is properly installed and in good condition, and that the overall condition of the well and casing is good.
