Ordering Birth Certificates

The Vital Statistics Office has reopened to walk-in customers. Office hours are 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

In accordance with CDC guidance, all individuals who are fully-vaccinated are no longer required to wear masks or physically distance. Unvaccinated individuals will need to continue to wear a mask or other face covering and social distance.

Birth certificates began being filed with the Office July 1, 1911.

Some Delayed Certificates of Birth are on file with dates of birth dating back to the 1860's. In 1940, statutory authority was received by the Office which allowed individuals still alive in 1940 and later with no prior birth record filed to submit certain documentation to file a Delayed Certificate of Birth. A request for a Delayed Certificate of Birth is made in the same manner as one for a regular birth certificate – just specify the date of birth. If the date specified is between the late 1860's and July 1, 1911, a Delayed Certificate of Birth search will be conducted.

ATTENTION: Due to COVID 19, the delivery times of regular mail has increased. In order to maintain prompt delivery of your certificate it is recommend that you use one of our priority services or use expedited mail, especially if you have a deadline that requires a certificate. If you are ordering by regular mail, it is suggested that you provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope along with your order to help avoid any mailing delays.
