Mike Tabor serves as the Landfill Director of the Seward County Regional Subtitle D Landfill in Liberal, Kansas. Mike has been director of the facility since 1992. The Seward County Landfill is a 250 tpd facility serving Southwest Kansas and the Oklahoma Panhandle. Mike has a 12 person staff at the facility who perform many cell construction activities including excavation, compacted clay liner construction, drainage, and leachate system installation. The facility is financially self supporting, operating on gate revenues of approximately 2.4 million dollars annually. Mike also manages the Seward County HHW facility and has one of the largest source separated compost operations in Kansas that currently receives about 200 tons of paunch waste each day from a nearby beef packing plant.

Mike has 20 years of public service with Seward County serving as Assistant Fire Chief and Emergency Preparedness Director, and Zoning and Planning Director before assuming his current position as Landfill Director. Mike is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager. He has completed the Manager of Landfill Operations course through SWANA and obtained recognition as a Certified Landfill Manager by that organization. In 2003 Mike received the Certified Public Manager Certification through the KU Public Management Center. In 2005, Mike was honored to receive the County Public Improvement Award for cities over 10,000 for an alternate final cover design at the county landfill utilizing compost. This award was presented by the American Council of Engineering Companies.
