ID requirements: Due to the rise in identity theft and other fraudulent use of vital
records, acceptable ID is limited. You must present a government (state or federal) issued
photo ID. This can be issued by the U.S. or other country of residence.
Examples of acceptable IDs (must be current):
- Driver's license
- State ID card
- Passport or visa
- Military ID
If you do not have a government issued photo ID, you must bring any TWO
of the following documents:
- Social security number
- Bank statement with current address
- Car registration or title with current address
- Utility bill with current address
- Pay stub (must include your name, social security number plus
name and address of business)
Our walk-in Customer Service Lobby is open to the public from 9:00 a.m.
through 4:00 p.m. weekdays, excluding holidays. You may fill out an application available
in the lobby or use the below selections to obtain a MARRIAGE certificate application form
to fill out and bring with you.

The cost is $12.00 for one certified copy and $7.00 for each additional
copy of the same record ordered at the same time. Payment may be made by cash, check, money
order, or credit card.

We are located on the first floor of the Curtis State Office Building
which can be accessed by entrances off Kansas Avenue or Jackson Street. Jackson Street is
a one-way street north. A direct access to the Customer Service Lobby is available from
the east side of the building (Kansas Avenue). If you enter from the front of the building
on the west side (Jackson Street), walk past the Security Desk and straight back past the
elevators. Go past the pillar and through the first set of glass doors. The Customer Service
Lobby door is located to your left immediately after coming through the first set of glass
doors.

These directions will place you on the east side, or the back, of the
Curtis State Office Building.
Coming in from the East (Lawrence, Kansas City, Leavenworth) on
the turnpike (I-70):
Take Exit 183 (Topeka & Salina exit)
From tollbooth follow the freeway right into town.
Exit at 362C (10th Street) then turn left at the light.
Proceed to Kansas Avenue and turn left at the light.
Coming in from the West (Salina, Junction City, Manhattan) on I-70:
Take Eighth Street Exit 362B to Southbound Monroe Street.
At the second stoplight, turn right onto 10th Street .
Proceed to Kansas Avenue and turn left at the light.
Coming in from the South (Wichita, Emporia):
Exit at 182 and follow the same directions as coming in from the East,
OR Exit off I-70 at the South Topeka exit.
From tollbooth, go to Topeka Boulevard.
Proceed on Topeka Boulevard to 10th Street.
Turn right onto 10th Street.
Go three blocks.
Turn right onto Kansas Avenue.
Coming in from the North on Topeka Boulevard:
Turn left onto 10th Street.
Go 3 blocks east to Kansas Avenue.
Turn right at the light (this places you on the east side of the building).
