Project Summary
Utilizing the public health model USD214 seeks to promote community-based
interventions to reduce the risk of male perpetration of sexual violence
and encourage healthy, life-long decisions of youth. In implementing
a longitudinal prevention education plan to all school children (K-12th
grade) the program reaches 1,750 students. Due to strong relationships
with school administrators, violence and sexual violence prevention
curriculum became a part the approved three hours for health/sexuality
education course in USD214 school district.
Goals to increase knowledge of problem solving and accepting personal
responsibility though one's own actions will be measured by pre/post
test questions, YRBS, Communities that Care Survey, and school building
report data. Additionally the program
seeks to increase awareness of gender stereotyping, and attitudes
of positive male responsibility.
