Refugee Program - Resettlement Agencies

Resources for Resettlement Agencies

The Refugee Resettlement Program is a part of a comprehensive network of services for people who are migrants and refugees. Several different agencies act as resettling agencies for refugees in Kansas. These agencies offer assistance in resettlement, employment, social services, recreation and educational programs. Most refugees have families already living in the area. If those family members are not able to assist the newly arrived refugees in resettling, then one of the resettling agencies is called upon to assist. The agency sponsors the refugee family for a period of 90 days and is responsible for welcoming the family at the airport, assisting family members in obtaining social security numbers, securing affordable housing, locating job placements, and locating medical care. The agency frequently provides transportation for the newly arrived families.
