WIC checks can be used to buy healthy food at over 370 authorized grocery stores statewide. WIC foods are chosen because they contain nutrients needed for pregnancy, breastfeeding, infancy, and early childhood. Examples of WIC foods include milk, soymilk, yogurt, whole grains, eggs, cereal, fruit juice, cheese, baby food, infant formula, fruits, vegetables, peanut butter, canned or dried beans/peas, and fish.

In 2015, additional food choices were made available for states to offer WIC clients. Kansas chose to add yogurt and whole wheat pasta. The final food rule also allowed clients the ability to purchase any kind of potato. Look for new pictures of the food packages Summer of 2016.
