World Water Monitoring Day -
Kansas #1 in 2006
According to the World Water Monitoring Day 2006 Report, 39 countries
registered a total of 3,993 sample sites on the World Water Monitoring
Day Web site for the 2006 sampling period. The United States accounted
for almost 55 percent of those, with 2,142 sites in 49 states, plus the
District of Columbia.
In 2006, Kansas enjoyed great success and ranked first with
487 registered sample sites, and nearly 2,200 World Water Monitoring
Day participants! We reached our first goal, but are short of our
goal of 1,000 registered sites. There is always next year!
