Candy Catfish From Kansas This project is designed to educate 4th grade students on the importance of water bodies in North Eastern Kansas. Approximately 150 students in 7 counties will participate in this project. Students will study streams from Soldier Creek to the Kansas River and learn the importance of these waterways, effects of non-point source pollution and aquatic organisms.
Jackson County Water Quality Protection: Alternate Livestock Water Supply & Protection Part 1 & 2 This project is designed to address protection of riparian areas and water quality by identifying producers who want to develop alternative watering sources to creeks or windbreak establishment. There are announcements in newsletters, workshops etc. to help in their recruitment. They also discuss needs addressing these concerns during other job duties or field visits. A wetland to enhance protection of a tributary from minimally treated dairy waste is also planned.
