| Addressing Water Quality Concerns on Clay County Farmsteads |
This project is intended to identify 5 farmsteads in Clay County to
complete the River Friendly Farms Assessment. Each farmer will receive
an incentive of $100 for completing the assessment. After the assessment
is complete, each farmer will be eligible for an additional $1,000 to address
the most significant pollution concern identified during the assessment. |
| Agricultural Industry Water Quality Awareness Project |
The objectives of the project are to use KFRM''s radio coverage to
provide water quality information and raise the awareness. This will be
done through radio programming, which includes water quality protection
reminders, promotions for special events where water quality oriented surveys
and booths will be located or other ""natural resource management programs
associated with agriculture. The Ag Technology Today regular feature will
include water quality oriented programming focused towards the agriculture
sector (producers, farm service centers etc.). KFRM staff will attend farm
shows and provide surveys, then formulate a compilation (with KDHE) process.
Farm booth themes will revolve around local water quality and agriculture
concerns. There will also be a tracking system for inquiry to the radio
station. Surveys, tabulations of requests for more information or contacts
will be a measure of success. |
