KDHE to Present Pollution Prevention Awards at Kansas Environmental Conference

TOPEKA, Kan.— The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will present Pollution Prevention (P2) Awards to two companies during an awards luncheon tomorrow, August 14, at the 2013 Kansas Environmental Conference. Members of the media are invited to attend the awards presentation, which begins at noon in the in the Sunflower Ballroom of the Maner Conference Center.

John Mitchell, KDHE Division of Environment Director, will present the P2 awards and will also recognize the Honorable Mention recipients.

The mission of the Kansas Pollution Prevention Program is to promote pollution prevention as an environmental ethic to achieve improvements in public health and environmental quality. Each year, companies, communities, schools and organizations are given the opportunity to apply for these awards. The awards are presented to entities that have reduced or eliminated waste at the source, reduced air emissions or practiced energy and/or water conservation.
