KDHE Accepting Comments on Plan to Address the Cintas Site in Wichita

Public Availability Session Set for April 10

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is accepting public comments on the agency’s plan to address groundwater and soil contamination at the Cintas Site in Wichita. The public comment period opened March 26 and will end April 26.

The draft plan, called a Draft Corrective Action Decision (CAD), outlines future activities to be conducted to address contamination at the site. The Draft CAD was made available March 16 for the public to review online at, at the Curtis State Office Building in Topeka, and at the Wichita Department of Public Works – Office of Environmental Health, 1900 E. KDHE will hold a public availability session during the 30-day public comment period to present information regarding the preferred remedy and solicit public participation. The public availability session will be held April 10 at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium at the City of Wichita’s Water Center, located at 101 E. Pawnee, Wichita. Public comments on the Draft CAD may be submitted to KDHE in writing, by April 26, to the KDHE Bureau of Environmental Remediation, Attention: Margaret Townsend, 1000 SW Jackson Street, Suite 410, Topeka, Kansas 66612.  Comments on the Draft CAD may also be submitted to KDHE by electronic mail to  Comments sent by electronic mail must be received by KDHE by 5 p.m. on April 26. All comments that are received by KDHE prior to the end of the public comment period will be addressed by KDHE in the Responsiveness Summary Section of the Final CAD.
