KanCare consumer, provider educational meetings rescheduled after weather cancellations

Consumer meetings - March 18 and 20
Provider meetings - March 18,19 and 20

TOPEKA, Kan.— The KanCare program has rescheduled educational meetings from March 18-20 in three cities where meetings had been cancelled in February because of inclement weather. Provider meetings will take place in Hays, Dodge City and Wichita, while consumer meetings will take place in Hays and Wichita only.

Meetings were originally planned in16 cities for KanCare consumers and six cities for KanCare providers. Although a portion of these meetings were held as planned, some were cancelled due to the snow storms. The February meetings comprised the first educational tour since KanCare launched on Jan. 1. The upcoming round of re-scheduled meetings will be dedicated to helping KanCare members and providers with questions they have regarding the ongoing transition, including the 90-day choice and continuity of care period for health plan coverage.
Details, including locations and times, for this round of meetings are posted online under each Events section for Consumers and Providers at www.kancare.ks.gov. The cities with dates are listed below:

Consumer meetings will take place from 6-8 p.m. at the following locations:
March 18 in Hays
March 20 in Wichita

Provider meetings will take place from 1-3 p.m. at the following locations:
March 18 in Hays
March 19 in Dodge City
March 20 in Wichita

For the consumer meetings, any person with a disability may request accommodations, such as Braille or an interpreter, in order to participate in a meeting. However, transportation is not provided. Requests for this accommodation should be made by noon on March 12 by emailing KanCare@kdheks.gov or by calling Rita Haverkamp at (785) 296-5107.

In addition to these meetings for consumers and providers, a DVD containing the KanCare presentations will be available for those who would like to play a recorded copy of one of the meetings in their facilities. To request a DVD, please email KanCare@kdheks.gov.
