Public Comment Requested on Environmental Remediation
at Former El Paso Terminal Facility Site in McPherson

TOPEKA, Kan.—The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) requests public comment on a Draft Interim Corrective Action Decision (Interim CAD) document describing the preferred remedial alternative for addressing contamination at the Former El Paso Terminal Facility in McPherson, Kan.

The Draft Interim CAD and other pertinent documents will be available for review during the public comment period from Feb. 25 to March 27 at the McPherson Public Library, 214 West Marlin Street, and in KDHE’s Topeka Office located at 1000 Southwest Jackson, Suite 410, in Topeka. The Draft Interim CAD is available online at:  

Public comments on the Draft Interim CAD may be submitted in writing during the 30-day comment period to the KDHE Bureau of Environmental Remediation, Attention: John Cook, 1000 SW Jackson Street, Suite 410, Topeka, KS 66612.  Comments on the Draft Interim CAD may also be submitted to KDHE by electronic mail to by 5 p.m. on March 27.  KDHE will select a final remedy, and the agency anticipates issuing a Final Interim CAD for the site after considering all information submitted during the public comment period. KDHE may modify the preferred remedial alternative or select another response action based on new information or public comments.
