Kansas Green Team Awards to be Presented in Topeka Sept. 30

Topeka - The Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s (KDHE) Bureau of Waste Management is hosting its fourth annual Kansas Green Team Assembly on Friday, Sept. 30 at the Crestview Park Shelter House in Topeka. The assembly will highlight best green practices, and the awards presentation will recognize successful green initiatives of three businesses and one individual.

This year’s keynote address will be provided by Pick Up America, a nonprofit organization whose members have been traveling across America picking up trash since March 2010. Pick Up America is the nation’s first coast-to-coast roadside litter pickup team, and it made tracks in Kansas recently during the Sept. 24 Midwest Litter Fest in Douglas County.
