Topeka—The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will present Pollution Prevention (P2) Awards to three companies during an awards luncheon tomorrow, August 17, at the 2011 Kansas Environmental Conference. Members of the media are invited to attend the awards presentation, which begins at Noon in the Sunflower Ballroom of the Maner Conference Center.
John Mitchell, Director of KDHE’s Division of Environment, will present the P2 awards and also recognize the Honorable Mention recipient.
The mission of the Kansas Pollution Prevention Program is to promote pollution prevention as an environmental ethic to achieve improvements in public health and environmental quality. Each year, companies, communities, schools and organizations are given the opportunity to apply for these awards. The awards are presented to entities that have reduced or eliminated waste at the source, reduced air emissions or practiced energy and/or water conservation.
