Public Notice of Proposed Permit Renewal Action in Kansas City, Kansas

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region VII are announcing their intent to renew a Resource Conservation and Recovery Act hazardous waste permit to Nexeo Solutions, LLC (Nexeo), formerly Ashland Distribution, located at 5420 Speaker Road, Kansas City, Kansas. The permit allows the facility to receive and store hazardous waste in containers from off-site generators.

Part I of the permit will authorize Nexeo to receive and store hazardous waste in approved containers generated from on-site and off-site generators. A maximum of 9,240 gallons of containerized liquid and solid hazardous waste may be stored in the permitted storage area. The materials stored at the facility will include ignitable, corrosive, reactive, toxic and listed liquid or solid hazardous wastes.

A copy of the administrative record, which includes the draft permit, the permit application, and all information pertaining to this permit action, is available for public review from August 4, 2011 through September 18, 2011, Monday through Friday, during normal business hours at the following locations:

Anyone wishing to comment on the draft permit should submit written comments postmarked no later than September 18, 2011, to Mostafa Kamal (KDHE) or Patricia Murrow (EPA) at the above addresses. A public hearing has not been scheduled; however, if written requests are received which indicate a significant degree of public interest in the draft permit a public hearing will be scheduled.
