In its work to protect the health and environment of Kansans, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) makes news and information available on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
The agency’s Web 2.0 team, representing the 15 bureaus within KDHE, is turning up the volume, so to speak, when it comes to posting and tweeting important information on a variety of topics, to include health care data, stream advisories, air monitoring, childcare facilities, grant awardees and health promotion programs, as well as videos and photos from events across the state.
“The great thing about social media is that we have the ability to have a conversation with the almost four million Kansans already online about the things impacting their lives,” explained Jonathan Larance, Public Information Officer for KDHE. “Since I joined the KDHE staff, I’ve picked up on the interests of our stakeholders, and I’m working to better inform Kansans on how KDHE is working to improve their health and protect the environmental resources of our State.”
