KDHE Seeks Public Comment on Proposed Cleanup at
McGraw Trucking Site in Frontenac

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is asking for public comments regarding a proposal to address environmental contamination at the McGraw Trucking Site located at 832 West McKay Street in Frontenac, Crawford County.

The former McGraw Trucking Company developed the property between 2004 and 2008. A Consent Order between KDHE and multiple respondents was executed on April 20, 2010, which required the investigation of environmental contamination, implementation of an interim measure, and an evaluation of cleanup alternatives under KDHE oversight.

A draft Agency Decision Statement (ADS) which outlines the proposal for cleanup is available for public review at the Pittsburg Public Library.

Public comments can be submitted in writing to: Natalie Garven, Environmental Scientist, KDHE Bureau of Environmental Remediation, 1000 SW Jackson St., Suite 410, Topeka, KS 66612. Comments will be accepted until March 8, 2011.
