On Thursday July 22, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will host a free informational meeting on the new lead-based paint regulations in Wichita. The meeting will be held at the Water Center, 101 East Pawnee Street from 6-8 p.m.

“These meetings are designed for contractors, property managers and the public to learn more about these regulations, their purpose and what is required in Kansas,” Roderick Bremby, KDHE Secretary, said. “Everyone is welcome to attend.”

This law affects contractors, property managers and others disturb painted surfaces in older homes. It affects Repair work, Renovation activity and Painting only. These informational meetings will discuss what the regulations require, such as pre-renovation education of occupants, training of staff, certification and licensure and the use of proper on-the-job work practices.
