It's Time to Get Savvy About Sodium

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and Saline County RWD #7 are issuing  a boil water advisory for the water customers of the Saline County RWD #7 water system, located in southwest Saline County.  Customers of Saline County RWD #1 are not affected by this advisory.

KDHE officials are issuing the advisory in advance of repairs that are scheduled to be made between 8:00 PM and 11:00 PM on Monday, June 14, 2010.  During this time, a valve will be replaced which will cause an interruption of water service resulting in little or no water pressure. Whenever such a loss of pressure occurs, it is possible for contaminants to enter the system. Also during this time, disinfection (chlorine) levels are inadequate to protect against bacterial contamination.

Water customers should consider filling sanitary containers with tap water, or obtaining bottled water for consumption until the advisory has been lifted.  When water service is restored, residents served by the affected public water systems should observe the following precautions:

Questions regarding the status of this advisory may be directed to Bruce Spare by calling (785) 667-6903.  The advisory will remain in effect until testing of water samples indicates no evidence of contamination and all other conditions which place the systems at risk of contamination are deemed by KDHE officials to be resolved.  KDHE will notify media when the boil water advisory has been rescinded.
