On Tuesday, June 15, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will host a free informational meeting on the new lead-based paint regulations in Hays. The meeting will be held at the Ellis County Environmental Office, 601 Main St. from 6-8 p.m.
“These meetings are designed for contractors, property managers and the public to learn more about these regulations, their purpose and what is required in Kansas,” Roderick Bremby, KDHE Secretary, said. “Everyone is welcome to attend.”
This law affects contractors, property managers and others disturb painted surfaces in older homes. It affects Repair work, Renovation activity and Painting only. These informational meetings will discuss what the regulations require, such as pre-renovation education of occupants, training of staff, certification and licensure and the use of proper on-the-job work practices.
Similar meetings will be held across the state at the following locations from 6-8 p.m.:
June 14 – Lawrence, Lawrence-Douglas County Health Department, 200 Maine Street, Suite B
June 15 – Hays, Ellis County Environmental Office, 601 Main St.
June 22 – Salina, North Central District Office, 2501-D Market Place
June 23 – Chanute, State Office Complex, 1500 West 7th, Meadowlark Room
July 8 – Dodge City, Southwest District Office, 302 West McArtor Road
July 20 – Wichita, The Water Center, 101 East Pawnee Street
