The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a public notice and comment period from May 7, 2010 through June 7, 2010 for the proposed household hazardous waste (HHW) facility to be operated by Crawford County.
Crawford County has applied to operate the Southeast Kansas Regional Household Hazardous Waste Facility which will be located at 503 S. Joplin, Pittsburg at the SEK Recycling, Inc. site. The HHW facility will operate as the regional host for Satellite HHW Facilities located at Crawford, Cherokee, Neosho, and Woodson counties.
A copy of the administrative record including the draft permit, permit application, engineering drawings and other information will be available for public review from Friday, May 7 through Monday, June 7, 2010 during normal business hours at the Pittsburg Public Library and at the KDHE Topeka office, 1000 S.W. Jackson St., Suite 320, in Topeka. The permit application form is also available at www.kdheks.gov/waste.
