The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will host three workshops across the state in April regarding the Kansas Brownfields Program. The workshops, titled “Recycling Kansas—The Kansas Brownfields Program,” will focus on funding opportunities for resolving environmental and redevelopment issues for communities.
“Brownfields” are properties whose expansion, redevelopment or reuse may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant or contaminant.
“Reuse and redevelopment of abandoned, idled or underutilized properties is both a challenge and an opportunity,” said Roderick Bremby, KDHE Secretary. “Idle properties can be utilized and property values can be restored to meet their maximum potentials.”
