In recognition of National Wear Red Day, Governor Mark Parkinson, the American Heart Association (AHA) and state officials will join together at a news conference on Friday, February 5th at 11 a.m. to speak about heart disease being the number one killer of women. The news conference will be held in the Governor’s Ceremonial Office, 241-S at the State Capitol.
The event will promote National Wear Red Day, a public awareness day supporting the AHA’s Go Red For Women movement. All Kansans are urged to wear red on Friday, February 5th to show support in the fight against this largely preventable disease and help save women’s lives.
Speakers at the news conference will include Governor Mark Parkinson; Kansas Department of Health and Environment Secretary Roderick Bremby; Kevin Harker, Executive Vice President, Midwest Affiliate of the American Heart Association; Rep. Annie Kuether and Cathy Porter, Kansas resident and heart disease survivor.
