Laboratory Error Results in Misreported Sherman County H1N1 Case

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) regrets that a laboratory error has resulted in a case of H1N1 influenza being incorrectly reported in a resident of Sherman County.  A review of records and re-testing of the specimen indicates that the resident does not have H1N1.

A corrected laboratory report has been issued and the facility that submitted the specimen has been notified of the error.  Procedures have been put in place to prevent the error from occurring again.
