KDHE Seeks Comments on Proposed Jackson County
Household Hazardous Waste Facility

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a public notice and comment period from September 26 through October 27 for the proposed household hazardous waste (HHW) facility to be operated by Jackson County.

Jackson County has applied to operate the Northeast Kansas Regional Household Hazardous Waste Facility, which would be located at 700 E. Fourth St. in Holton. The proposed facility would operate as the regional host for Atchison, Brown and Doniphan counties.

A copy of the administrative record including the draft permit, permit application, engineering drawings and other information will be available for public review from Friday, September 26 through Monday, October 27 during normal business hours at the County Clerk’s Office, Jackson County Courthouse, Holton and at the KDHE Topeka office, 1000 S.W. Jackson St., Suite 320, in Topeka. The permit application form is also available at www.kdheks.gov/waste.
