MEDIA ADVISORY: IKK Steering Committee to Release Strategies for
Improving; Sustaining Immunization Rates in Kansas

News Conference at 1:00 p.m. on July 7, 2008

The Immunize Kansas Kids (IKK) steering committee has scheduled a news conference to release a report detailing its recommendations for improving the state’s immunization rate. The news conference will be held on Monday, July 7, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. in the office of Dr. Dennis Cooley, 3500 SW 6th Ave. , Topeka.

At the news conference, Kansas Department of Health and Environment Secretary Roderick L. Bremby, Dr. Gianfranco Pezzino, Associate Director of Public Health Systems at the Kansas Health Institute and Dr. Jo-Ann Harris, director of the Division of Infectious Disease at the Kansas University Medical Center, will discuss strategies detailed in the report How to Achieve and Sustain High Vaccination Rates Among Kansas Children: An Action Plan. The report highlights recommendations designed to raise and sustain immunization rates in Kansas.
