Stream Advisory Rescinded for Hog Creek in Leavenworth County

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) have rescinded a stream advisory for Hog Creek in Leavenworth County.

The advisory was issued on April 21 in response to a sewage bypass from a broken force main that carries sewage from the 163 rd Street lift station to the city of Basehor’s wastewater treatment plant on the west side of town.

On April 21, city personnel were able to stop the sewage bypass by pumping sewage from the lift station around the broken force main using a temporary pump and pipe. No known bypasses from the lift station or force main have occurred since that time.

Analytical results from samples collected by KDHE on April 29 show no ongoing impact to Hog Creek from the sewage bypass.
