Boil Water Advisory Issued for Ellsworth RWD #1

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a boil water advisory for Ellsworth Rural Water District (RWD) #1.

This week’s ice storm caused a loss of pressure in the system. When such a loss of pressure occurs, it is possible for contaminants to enter the system. Also, chlorine residuals may drop to levels that are inadequate to protect against bacterial contamination.

The RWD is providing bottled water for those impacted by the boil water advisory at the following locations:

Gorham City Office
125 Market Street
Sean Thomas at 785-483-0288

Lincoln Fire Station
K14 & Main Street
Open from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm or call Rod Job at 785-384-0225

Post Rock RWD Office
103 N. Douglas, Ellsworth
By appointment only call Kay Bailey at 785-531-1342

Once service is restored, customers should observe the following precautions until further notice:

The advisory will remain in effect until testing of water samples indicates no evidence of contamination and all other conditions which place the systems at risk of contamination are deemed by KDHE officials to be resolved. Local officials and/or KDHE will notify media when the boil water advisory has been rescinded.
