The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will hold a public hearing and public comment period from October 26 until 5 p.m. on November 28 regarding the proposed expansion of a construction and demolition landfill operated by C&D Recyclers of Kansas, Inc.
The public hearing will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28 at the Sedgwick County Extension Center, 7001 W. 21 st St. North, Wichita. An informal question and answer period will be held at 6 p.m. before the hearing starts.
The landfill is located at 4250 W. 37th St. North in Wichita . C&D Recyclers of Kansas, Inc. has submitted an application for an additional 26.6-acre construction and demolition waste disposal area west of the existing facility. The expansion would create a combined 70-acre landfill site with 49.7 acres permitted for construction and demolition waste disposal.
KDHE will accept written comments sent to Charles Bowers, KDHE Southeast District Office, 1500 W. 7 th St., Chanute KS, 66720, by fax to (620) 431-1211, or to cbowers@kdhe.state.ks.us. Comments postmarked by November 28 and received within one week will also be considered. KDHE will provide a written response summary for all formal comments received.
