KDHE Requests Public Comments on Proposed EnviroClean Facility in KCK

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is requesting public comments regarding a proposed medical waste processing facility that would be located at 1020 Pawnee Drive in Kansas City, Kan. The facility would collect and process medical waste for disposal at a separate, permitted site and be operated by EnviroClean Management Services, Inc.

The department will be accepting comments from May 11 through June 11. Written statements should be postmarked no later than Monday, June 11 to Arthur Fink, KDHE, 1000 S.W. Jackson, Suite 320, Topeka, KS 66612. Comments that are postmarked by June 11 and received within one week thereafter will also be considered. Comments will also be accepted via fax to 785-296-1592 or email to afink@kdheks.gov, if they are received by 5 p.m. on June 11.

A copy of the application and public notice is available on the KDHE Bureau of Waste Management web site at www.kdheks.gov/waste/. Additionally, a copy of the permit application, facility plan, and associated documents are available for public review through Monday, June 11 during normal business hours at the KDHE offices at 1000 S.W. Jackson, Suite 320, in Topeka, and at the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas Public Health Department, 619 Ann in Kansas City, Kan.

KDHE will respond to all formal comments in writing.
