KDHE Seeks Public Comment on Proposed Waste Transfer Station in KCK

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is requesting public comment regarding a proposed medical waste transfer station that would be located at 200 Funston Road, Unit C, Kansas City, Kan. The facility will primarily provide truck-to-truck transfers of medical waste, and would be operated by Enserv Midwest, L.L.C.

Written statements should be postmarked no later than Monday, May 14 to Arthur Fink, KDHE, 1000 S.W. Jackson, Suite 320, Topeka, KS 66612. Comments that are postmarked by May 14 and received within one week thereafter will also be considered. Comments will also be accepted via fax to 785-296-1592 or email to afink@kdheks.gov, if they are received by 5 p.m. on May 14.

KDHE has scheduled a public comment period from April 13 through May 14. Copies of the permit application, facility plan, and other documents are available for public review during normal business hours at the KDHE offices at 1000 S.W. Jackson, Suite 320, in Topeka, and at the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas Public Health Department, 619 Ann Ave. in Kansas City, Kan. A copy of the application and public notice is available on the KDHE Bureau of Waste Management web site at www.kdheks.gov/waste.

KDHE will respond to all formal comments in writing.
