KDHE Earns Mid-America Immunization Coalition's System Solutions to Immunizations Award

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Immunization Program has earned the Mid-America Immunization Coalition’s first-ever System Solutions to Immunizations Award. The award was given for KDHE’s new KSWebIZ system, a statewide database encompassing immunizations for children and adults.

“We are thrilled that Mid-America Immunization Coalition selected KDHE for this award,” said Roderick L. Bremby, Secretary of KDHE. “This award signifies our team’s commitment to making certain that Kansas children are safeguarded against many preventable yet potentially devastating childhood diseases.”

The award will be presented at the Coalition’s meeting scheduled from
9 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6 at the Kansas City, Mo. Health Department, 2400 Troost, in Kansas City, Mo.

“Effective childhood immunization is a cornerstone for the health of every child and within the public health system itself,” stated Howard Rodenberg, M.D., Director of the KDHE Division of Health. “This new system benefits all Kansans, as well as KDHE and local health departments and doctor’s offices who are on the front lines of protecting the public health.”

In addition, the Immunize Kansas Kids Project, a unique partnership among the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, the Kansas Health Institute and dozens of stakeholder organizations will receive the Vision in Action Award for taking an innovative approach towards significantly improving childhood immunization rates in Kansas. Financial support for the Immunize Kansas Kids partnership is provided by the Kansas Health Foundation.

The Mid America Immunization Coalition is part of the Maternal and Child Health Coalition of Greater Kansas City, and was founded in 1992 by Children’s Mercy Hospital and other organizations.
