Food Service and Lodging License Renewals Due January 1KDHE Seeks Input from Owners on New Fee StructureThe Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has mailed license renewal notices for 2007 to all licensed food service and lodging establishments in the state on Monday, November 13. This year, the food service establishment notices contain a voluntary survey. The results of the survey will be used by KDHE to develop a tiered fee structure to accommodate establishments of various sizes. The tiered fee structure, which is yet to be developed, is anticipated to take effect no sooner than 2009. Operators who fail to pay license renewal fees before January 1, 2007, must pay a $10 penalty in addition to the regular renewal fee. If the renewal fee and renewal application are not received by January 31, 2007, operators must re-apply for a license and pay the additional application fee. After fees have been paid, licenses will be mailed after January 3, 2007. Restaurant and lodging facility operators who do not receive a renewal application by December 1, 2006 should contact KDHE at 785-296-5600. Written correspondence may be mailed to: KDHE Food Safety and Consumer Protection Program, 1000 SW Jackson St., Suite 330, Topeka, KS 66612-1365. Correspondence may also be sent to KDHE by fax at 785-296-6522 or via e-mail to foodsafety@kdheks.gov. |
