Diabetes Conference Held in Wichita, October 2-3
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is sponsoring the 3rd Annual Diabetes Quality of Care Conference. The conference is being held October 2-3 at the Broadview Hotel in Wichita.
The conference is designed for physicians, nurses, medical managers and medial staff interested in improving the quality of care of people with diabetes. Conference objectives are as follows:
- Outline innovative approaches for extending services for patients with diabetes.
- Discuss the chronic disease care management concept and the chronic care model.
- Review the standards of care for patients with diabetes.
- Describe the use of an electronic management system to improve quality of care for patients with chronic disease.
- Examine improvements achieved by primary care practices involved in the statewide diabetes quality of care project.
- Identify new treatments/medications in diabetes care.
- Identify diabetes complications of the eye, kidney and cardiovascular system.
Speakers include Wichita Mayor Carlos Mayans; KDHE Secretary Roderick L. Bremby; and KDHE Director of Health Promotion Programs, Paula Clayton. Several other doctors and diabetes experts will conduct breakout sessions.
