KDHE issues $9,460 penalty to Steven Chrysler Body Shop
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued an administrative penalty
of $9,460 to Steven Chrysler Body Shop, 650 S. Webb, Wichita, for violating laws and regulations
governing solid and hazardous waste in Kansas.
The following violations were noted during KDHE inspections conducted in June 2004:
- Failure to determine if potentially hazardous waste was indeed hazardous
- Failure to update notification of regulated waste activity form
- Failure to properly identify and date hazardous waste storage containers
- Failure to keep hazardous waste storage containers closed
- Failure to conduct and document weekly inspections of hazardous waste storage area
- Failure to retain waste manifest
- Failure to post emergency response information next to telephone
- Failure to submit annual monitoring fee and report to KDHE
- Failure to maintain and operate the facility to minimize the possibility of a fire,
explosion or hazardous waste release
KDHE and Steven Chrysler Body Shop entered into a consent agreement on August 7, 2006 to pay
the $9,460 penalty.
