REMINDER: KDHE Seeks Input and Comments from Public and
Stakeholders During Statewide Listening Tour
Public meeting scheduled in Frontenac from 6-7 p.m. tonight, August 18
The Secretary of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Roderick L. Bremby and
the KDHE Management Team have been traveling the state on a listening tour to discuss health and
environment related issues and get input from business and community partners, customers, area
legislators and the public.
As part of the listening tour, a public meeting will be held in Frontenac tonight, August
18, from 6-7 p.m. at the KDHE Surface Mining Section Satellite Office, 4033 Parkview Drive, in
Frontenac.
Listening tour stops so far have included Dodge City, Hays, Salina, Wichita, Chanute. A date for
the tour to stop in Lawrence is yet to be announced.
"As KDHE seeks to meet the health and environmental needs of Kansans, we consider it of utmost
importance that we receive direct input from you, our constituents and stakeholders from across this
great state," Bremby said. "We also want to provide information and updates on topics such as planning,
the current and future budgets, legislative issues and agency initiatives."
Bremby and the KDHE Management Team will update participants on the following:
- 2006 Legislative Session
- Status of the KDHE budget and funding priorities
- Agency activities and initiatives, related to:
- Healthy Kansas Initiative
- Pandemic Influenza
- Immunization - Immunize Kansas Kids Initiative
- Healthy Kansans 2010
- Water quality/Nutrient issues
