KDHE and EPA host informational meeting about
Basic Chemicals Company in Haysville, August 30

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 are hosting a public meeting and accepting written comments about the permit renewal for Basic Chemicals Company, LLC. The informational meeting will be held Wednesday, August 30 at the Haysville Community Library, 130 West Grand, Haysville.

Basic Chemicals Company (formerly known as Vulcan Chemicals Company) is located at 6200 South Ridge Road in Wichita. The renewal permit will allow the facility to continue to store hazardous waste in containers from on-site sources and will establish requirements for the on-site and off-site corrective actions.

KDHE and the EPA are also accepting written public comments about Basic Chemicals Company’s permit renewal. Anyone wishing to submit written comments or request a public hearing is invited to do so by mailing comments and requests to KDHE or the EPA at the following addresses:

Information pertaining to the permit renewal is available for public inspection between September 5-October 20 during normal business hours at the EPA Region 7 Office in Kansas City, KDHE Central Office in Topeka, and the Haysville Community Library in Haysville at the addresses listed above.
