MEDIA ADVISORYKDHE Health Officials to Discuss Rise in Whooping Cough CasesNews Conference - December 21, 12:30 p.m., TopekaThe Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will hold a news conference Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 12:30 p.m. to discuss the rise in whooping cough cases statewide. This year, there are more than 500 cases statewide (confirmed and probable). The news conference will be in the Curtis Building, 1000 SW Jackson, Suite 540, (Crumbine Conference Room), in Topeka. Speakers will include Howard Rodenberg, M.D., M.P.H., KDHE Division of Health Director, and Gail Hansen, D.V.M., M.P.H., State Epidemiologist. Photo opportunities will be available. Media and local health departments outside of Topeka may watch the news conference via the Internet at www.kdheks.gov.
