2006 Kansas Don't Spoil It! Limited Edition Calendars
Available To Encourage Recycling
The 2006 Kansas Don't Spoil It! Limited Edition wall calendar featuring original artwork by
Kansas students is now available from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). The
calendar is available free for a limited time (while supplies last) to Kansas residents by calling
KDHE at 1-800-282-9790 before December 31.
Last spring, nearly 5,000 Kansas students from grades K through 12 submitted artwork for the
calendar depicting ways Kansans can preserve the beauty and natural resources of their state.
Individual entries were judged and winners selected for each grade plus an overall winner. Now in
its seventh year, the contest has seen increased student participation and use by teachers who
utilize the calendar as a resource tool in the classroom.
Matt Parmalee, a 12th grader at Piper High School, Kansas City, was selected to have his
entry published on the 2006 calendar's front cover. KDHE plans to distribute 20,000 copies of the
calendar to schools, city and county offices, conservation district offices, state legislators and
the public to spread the message of keeping Kansas clean.
Winners who have their artwork featured in the 2006 calendar are:
