PLUGGING TO PROCEED ON VENT WELLS IN HUTCHINSON
State and the city officials have approved the proposed plugging of two deep vent wells in the Hutchinson area. The wells will be plugged by ONEOK, Inc. The wells were drilled by ONEOK in response to the 2001 natural gas release for the purpose of locating and venting natural gas from underground. When these two wells are plugged, all of the deep vent wells drilled by ONEOK in response to the gas release will have been plugged.
The wells will be plugged by filling them with a cement mixture. They no longer serve any purpose. The plugging work is planned to commence the week of November 7, 2005, and is expected to take approximately 1 day to complete barring any weather delays or other unforeseen delays.
