BOIL WATER ADVISORY LIFTED FOR CITY OF EASTON

Advisory for Portions of Atchison County RWD #5 C Remains in Effect

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has lifted the boil water advisory for the entire city of Easton. Bacteriological sampling has been completed and there is no evidence of bacteria in the system; therefore, the precautionary boil water advisory is no longer needed.

KDHE issued the advisory Oct. 3 to protect the public health because the city of Easton's public water supply wells were under water, due to flooding, and drinking water was not being produced. The wells have been cleaned and disinfected.

The boil water advisory for Atchison County RWD #5C (south of Highway 116 and East of the Delaware River) remains in effect. It was also issued Oct. 3. There were 62 service connections without water service due to a major line break. The break occurred in a flooded area, which means untreated floodwaters likely have entered the public water system. The area affected is located north of Valley Falls and was formerly known as Atchison County RWD #4 before being absorbed by RWD #5C.
