KDHE to Hold Public Availability Session October 12 on
Delphi Battery Plant Closure and Environmental Cleanup in Olathe

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will hold a public availability session concerning the closure, demolition, and environmental cleanup of the former Delphi Battery Manufacturing Plant, 400 Dennis, Olathe, Kansas. The facility has operated as a battery manufacturing plant since 1955. Manufacturing operations ceased in 2005 and Delphi is in the process of demolishing buildings at the facility and conducting environmental assessment and cleanup of the property.

Scheduling information concerning the availability session is provided below:

Time: 6:30 to 9:00 p.m.
Location: Westview Elementary School Cafeteria
601 Lee, Olathe, Kansas

An availability session is an opportunity for residents near the Delphi facility, the public, and other interested parties to obtain information about closure activities and environmental cleanup at the Delphi facility. State and local regulatory officials, and Delphi representatives, will be available during the session for questions and to provide general information about past, current, and future site activities and specifically, regulatory involvement. There is no formal presentation or meeting; attendees can come and go as they wish within the scheduled session time. Attendees may discuss questions and concerns with those present and observe pertinent information that will be on display.
