State and Local Officials in Salina Thursday to Announce Representatives from state government, local organizations and USD 305 will gather at Cottonwood School in Salina Thursday, Sept. 29 at 11:30 a.m. to announce the formation of the Kansas Food Policy Council, an important initiative to improve the health of our state, make our state safer and enhance our state's economy. The announcement will take place in the library of Cottonwood School, located at 215 S. Phillips, in Salina. The formation of the Food Policy Council is part of Governor Sebelius' Healthy Kansas initiative. Speakers will include Jerry Baxa, Cottonwood School Principal; Dan Nagengast, Executive Director of the Kansas Rural Center; Roderick Bremby, Secretary of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE); and Carole Jordan, Director of Rural Development, Marketing, Research, and Legislative Initiatives for the Kansas Department of Agriculture. In addition, representatives from the Salina Food Council will be on hand. |
