Plugging to Proceed on Vent Wells in Hutchinson
State and the city officials have approved the proposed plugging of six deep vent wells in Hutchinson. The wells will be plugged by ONEOK, Inc.
The wells were drilled by ONEOK in response to the 2001 natural gas release incident for the purpose of locating and venting natural gas from underground. The wells will be plugged by filling them with a cement mixture. The wells are no longer venting gas.
The plugging work is planned to commence the week of September 27, 2004 , and is expected to take approximately 2 days to complete barring any weather delays or other unforeseen delays.
