Plugging to Proceed on Vent Well In Hutchinson

State and the city officials have approved the proposed plugging of deep vent well DDV #17 located in the area of 7th and Pershing in Hutchinson. This well will be plugged by ONEOK, Inc.. The well was drilled by ONEOK in response to the 2001 natural gas release crisis for the purpose of locating and venting natural gas from underground.

The plugging work is planned to commence the week of September 22, 2003, and is expected to take approximately 2 days to complete barring any weather delays or other unforeseen delays.

The well will be plugged by filling it with a cement mixture. Scientific data needed by geologists and engineers in an effort to better understand why the incident occurred has now been obtained from the well. The well is no longer recording a surface pressure .
