KDHE Requests Public Comment for
Source-Separated Organic Waste Compost Facility in Dodge City

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) will hold a public comment period regarding Chamness Technology, Inc.'s application to operate a source-separated organic waste composting facility.

The facility is located on approximately 11.5 acres, one-half mile west of the intersection of Denim Road and 110 Road in Dodge City. Only source-separated organic waste materials, as defined by the Kansas solid waste regulations will be processed at the source-separated organic waste composting facility.

A copy of the administrative record including the draft permit, permit application, engineering drawings, and other information regarding this permit action will be available for public review from Friday November 8, 2002 through Friday, December 13, 2002 during normal business hours at KDHE, 1000 S.W. Jackson, Topeka and at the Ford County Clerk's Office in the Ford County Government Center at 100 Gunsmoke, 4th Floor, Dodge City.

In addition, an informational meeting and public hearing will be held in conjunction with the public comment period on Tuesday, December 10, 2002, in the City Commission Room of the City Hall building at 806 2nd Ave., Dodge City, Kansas. The informational meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the public hearing beginning at 6:30 p.m.
