Oneok, Inc. will begin plugging thirty vent wells in Hutchinson under the direction of the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). The project has been approved by state and city officials, and will begin the week of September 16th, taking approximately 10 days barring weather delays.
The process involves filling the wells with a cement mixture. These wells have little or no shut-in pressure, and the necessary logging and testing data have been obtained.
The remaining twenty-five vent wells are being evaluated to determine if additional information needs to be obtained prior to plugging.
