KDHE Encourages Public Comment on Investigation at Hodgdon Powder
Public Meeting Scheduled for September 18 at the Herington Community Building

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) announces a Consent Order has been signed between Hodgdon Powder and KDHE to investigate, delineate, and remove perchlorate and ammonia detected in and around the Pyrodex Facility at the Tri-County Airport. Perchlorate is an oxidant, used in the manufacture of gun powder.

In response to the Consent Order, KDHE will hold a public meeting Wednesday, September 18th at 7 p.m. at the Herington Community Building, 810 S. Broadway, Herington. The meeting will include a discussion of : 1) past activities at the site; 2) results from past investigations; 3) technical activities planned; and 4) possible remedial actions.
